IMI was founded in 1974 by Senior Electromechanical Engineer
Noureddine Ayed. The purpose of IMI's establishment was to start as a small
erection company doing mostly electrical and mechanical erections on cement and
power plants in Tunisia.
In 1976, IMI was requested by one of its main
client to participate with them on a large project in Basra, Iraq (Steel and
sponge Iron Plant). Once in Iraq, IMI got several contracts with German and
French companies in two fields of activity, small erection contracts, and the
provision of technical assistance. IMI, therefore, set up its first agency in
Cairo Egypt and later in all countries of North Africa, Tunisia, Morocco, and
Algeria. In the late 1980s and in order to efficiently answer to the growing
demands of our clients, which requests new and different qualifications and
nationalities, IMI opened more sourcing offices in the Philippines and in
Thailand.
Another sector of activity that erupted through the requests of
the clients is Training. Through our ability of supplying different
nationalities with different languages, IMI was heavily involved in the training
of the nationals and respond to the requirements of the government authorities
that usually rank this as top priority.
In 2003, IMI has been elected
first employer (by number of workers mobilized) in the Philippines by the
Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). Through the years, its
management team has been awarded in several opportunities by different world
organizations and government entities such as the Presidency of the Philippines,
the Association of Italian Commerce, the Thai Labor Ministry, the Business
Initiative Directions and many more.
Today, IMI has developed into a
major globally recognized company of technical assistance for the oil & gas
industry. Through its different offices, IMI is currently among the largest
specialists in supplying high level technicians, crafts and engineers throughout
the world (including the United States of America where there are satisfied
customers such as Stone & Webster, Technip USA, ABB, Timec, Aker Kvaerner
and many others) well positioned to respond to increased demands for technical
assistance. |
