jointly owned by the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation (49%), Shell (25.6%),
Total LNG Nigeria Limited (15%) and ENI
(10.4%)
Shell's Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas
(NLNG) project currently produces 16 million
tones per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural
gas and 2 million tones per year of liquefied
petroleum gas and consists of:
- A
Six LNG train gas liquefaction plant,
- A
gas transmission system linking gas supply
fields to the plant by pipeline,
- Associated utilities, storage / loading
facilities and other infrastructure,
- Seven LNG vessels for CIF deliveries
& Residential quarters for the company's
permanent employees on Bonny Island.
It was
announced in early 1999 that the plant
was to be expanded to accommodate a third,
then a fourth and a fifth LNG train.
The
current addition of the sixth LNG train
will further boost the LNG capacity by
4 million tones per year up to a total
of 22 million tons per year of LNG and
5 million of natural gas liquids.
The
sixth train is scheduled to start up in
the 4th quarter of 2007. This expansion
of the facility will place NLNG among
the largest producers of LNG in the world.
